The Escalade

“The Escalade” is the most popular festival in Geneva, taking place in the city centre in December as a memory and celebration of proud defence of Genevans from the attack of Duke of Savoy’s army. It includes also “The Escalade race”, a very popular sporting event in Geneva taking place the week-end before. From Friday 7 to Sunday 9 December 2018, Fête de l’Escalade gives the city a new look with parades, traditions and bonfires. You are very welcome to celebrate one of the oldest traditions in Geneva!

The Christmas Market

From the 6th of December to the 31st, the traditional Christmas Market transforms one of the most beautiful parks of Geneva, the Bastions park, into an enchanting park. In the middle of abundant lights and scenery, follow the path that leads you to the Christmas village. There, local producers, designers and craftsmen will make you discover objects, delicacies and other wonderful surprises.

The Christmas Cup

On the occasion of the traditional Christmas Cup, the 16th of December, more than 1800 courageous people will face the icy cold waters of the lake.
The Christmas Cup, held since 1934, is a must-attend event for outstanding swimmers who throw themselves into the water on a polar morning in December.
You can participate in this cup or come and encourage them!

Lights in the city!

Works of light created by artists from Switzerland and all over the world will interact with the traditional festive illuminations to bring a mythical and enchanting feel to the city centre and highlight Geneva’s heritage! Free, outdoor and accessible to all, from the 29th of November to the 13th of January 2019.

Art in the Old Town

Cultural association based in Geneva’s Old Town, Art en vieille ville brings together fifteen prestigious art and antiquities galleries as well as three renown cultural institutions, the Barbier-Mueller Museum, the Art and History Museum, and the Baur Foundation. An event for art lovers, collectors, art world professionals and inquiring minds. It invite you to discover the Old Town in a convivial atmosphere and through a unique itinerary in the streets of historic Geneva.

Geneva International Film Festival – GIFF

The festival has been exploring the links between cinema, television and digital art, while defending the place of the author in the artistic process, regardless of the audiovisual format. The GIFF is at the crossroads of genres and disciplines, a place for experimenting, meeting others and partying. Every year over nine days, it offers a series of experiences focused on sounds, images and new forms of narration, which include screenings, interactive installations, VR works, conferences and live performances. From the 2nd to the 10th of November.
